Josephine Sullivan

Funeral services for Miss Josephine Sullivan 87, pioneer resident of this section, who died Tuesday morning, were scheduled for 2:30 o’clock this afternoon at the home of her nieces, Misses Lida and Mary Dougherty at Round Lake near Old San Patricio.

Miss Sullivan was born in Quakertown, N. J., in 1852, and came to the old own of San Patricio two years later. Since then she has lived in Beeville and Corpus Christi, and for the last 10 years at Round Lake.

Survivors include her sister, Mrs. S. G. Borden, Sr., of Kansas City, Mo., her nieces, Mrs. Vincent Bluntzer and Mrs. Russell Savage, and a nephew, James Robert Sullivan, all of Corpus Christi.

Miss Sullivan was the last living person who had been present at the burial of James McGloin, one of the impresarios who colonized this section.

From the home of her nieces, the funeral procession will go to the old St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at San Patricio. The Rev. Father Englebert Bartosch will officiate at the funeral service. Rosary was recited at the home Wednesday night by Father Bartosch. Burial will be in the family burial plot.

Active pallbearers will be J. W. Sutherland; J. T. Mahoney, Lawrence McGowan, John L Quinn, Eddie Wright, Reese Baldschwiler, Francis Conlan and Roger McGloin.

Honorary pallbearers will be William Quinn, H. J. Timon, Sr., George McCowan, Sr., Hugh McCowan, M. P. Baldschwiller, Dave Dougherty, John f. Carr, Mark Mahoney and William D. Bluntzer.
