Johanna Rich

Died at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Wm. O'Docharty, in the town of San Patricio, on Sunday night, the 9inst., Mrs. Johanna Rich, age 75 years.

The deceased, who was well known, in Corpus Christi, was a native of County Limerick, Ireland, whence she emigrated in her girlhood, first landing in New Orleans, where she remained sometime. In 1853, just 50 years ago, she came with her mother and sister, to Texas; first settling at Point Isabel. Thence in a few years she moved to Corpus where she married and lived many years. She finally moved to San Patricio with her family and here she found her final resting place. Deceased was a loving mother, a staunch friend, a practical Christian.

She died fortified with the sacraments of the Catholic Church of which she was a life long and consistent member.

Her dying moments were soothed by the ministrations of her faithful pastor, Father Puig, who remained with her to the last, and the loving attentions of her relatives and friends who knelt, a grief-stricken group, around her bedside.

She leaves a son, Hon. S. J. Lewis, of Sinton, and two daughters, Mrs. Robert Weir and Mrs. William O'Docharty, of San Patricio, to mourn her loss. " May she rest in peace" is the ardent wish of San Patricio.
