Albert Newton Rogers

Albert Newton Rogers married Mary Cooksey in Mangum, Greer, OK on December 3, 1918. He was the son of George W. Rogers and Emeline Jackson, both of whom were from Tennessee. Newt Rogers was born in Marshall, Harrison Co., TX on September 20, 1860, and passed away on March 16 1929 in Aransas Pass, San Patricio Co., TX and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery at Odem, San Patricio Co., TX

His only child was Border Rogers. Border was born December 10, 1919 in Mangum, Greer Co., OK. He died July 12, 1993 in Escondido, San Diego, CA and is buried at Oak Hill Cemetery. Border married Marjorye Krieger. Border and Marjorye had two daughters: Judy Rogers and Jeanean Rogers.

Newt Rogers owned the a hotel with a group of investors around 1912-1917. Records at court house do not show individual names but lists the hotel as Bay View Hotel.

Border Rogers lived in Aransas with his Mom and Dad on their lot which had a water tower. The water tower is gone now but we thought we could see where it once was when we were there a few years ago. I think the lot was Block 554, Lot 10. Border’s best friend during these years was the banker’s daughter. He said it was fun to ride in the rumble seat with her while her dad drove them around town. Border also shelled shrimp for 25 cents a bucket.

The picture of Aransas pass on 1911 was taken from a rooftop and you can see the hotel down the street. The other pictures are all of Newt except the one that has Newt with his son Border and then Border with his bride, Marjorye.
